Pieter, Fellow

M.Sc. Mechnical Engineering, Technical University Delft

Why I decided to apply: I really clicked with the people I knew/met at McKinsey. Also I felt McKinsey could offer me the most interesting opportunities to learn both inside and outside the Netherlands

My first thought when I started at McKinsey: Let’s watch, learn and make the most of it!

Strangest place I ever had breakfast while at McKinsey: In the luxurious training center of McKinsey in Kitzbuhel (Austria) overlooking the Alps sitting with colleagues from all over the world in my first week at McKinsey

Most important lesson I learned from a client: Keep people involved. To help implement a new strategy, you have to start your own internal “marketing” campaign to get people involved in the project and help them understand what’s happening and how it will help. It makes a big difference

Favorite movie/sites: The Rock and La Vita è Bella

Favorite website: marktplaats.nl (searching for classic cars as a new renovation project)

Outside McKinsey activities: Dinner/drinks with friends, sports (e.g., hockey, cycling, running)

Favorite restaurant/ bar/ club in the Netherlands: During summer I prefer chilling in the Vondelpark with friends or visiting open air festivals like “Day in the Park”
