We are committed to helping you leave your mark wherever you work, whether it's with clients or colleagues. To be able to make change happen, we provide the support and tools that make you a more effective leader.
From the very beginning you'll have important project responsibilities as an integral part of a small team. The advantage of working in a team is that there are always colleagues around that can help you with everyday tasks and problems. Additionally, working together with clients ensures that you can really understand the issues that drive the company so you can figure out the best way to have impact.
Feedback is at the core of our culture. When you’re doing something well, you’ll get reinforcement. When you’re having trouble, someone will point out ways you can improve. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. But the spirit of the feedback is to help you learn, grow, and succeed. Our consultants come to depend on it as the key to their continual growth.
Training is a high priority at McKinsey. As a new consultant, you can expect around 5 weeks of training in your first year, usually a mix of firm-wide and office-led training programs. McKinsey also offers formal learning programs dedicated to developing specific skills that you'll need to be a more effective consultant and leader. You'll be able to choose from more than a hundred training programs, both online and in person. Have a look at some of our training programs on McKinsey's global careers site.

At the Amsterdam office the R&I department is always accessible for research and information to support teams. In a large range of areas R&I can help you to discover detailed information, do basic financial analysis, find macroeconomic data and make basic company and industry overviews. R&I departments in other parts of the world allow you to ask for overnight requests as well so you have the information you need to make strong and convincing recommendations to drive impact.
