Overview

We provide a broad range of opportunities for you to meet people, make friends, and build networks that can help you wherever your career takes you.

Teams

You'll work in small teams, a few McKinsey consultants usually working with a few client team members. Since we work together intensely, you'll end up establishing close relationships (the team dinners also help). Outside the immediate team, you will usually meet with all sorts of people from the client company in the course of understanding the client as well as we can. Engagements often last 1 – 3 months so each new project is another opportunity to meet new people, extend your network, and build lasting relationships.

Training programs

McKinsey consultants can choose from more than 100 training programs. On average, people do 5 weeks of training in the first year, many times in exotic locations. Most of these training sessions bring together colleagues from all over the world. These training programs have two goals: provide you with new skills and give you a chance to get to know your colleagues and build networks.

Office events

The Amsterdam office organizes many events to help you get to know your colleagues. Every year, all fellows and associates go on a ski trip, and every 18 months we organize a retreat—a long weekend with spouses. We have an annual Sinterklaas event and we celebrate Christmas and New Year during the yearly Christmas dinner. In addition, every month we organize a ‘borrel', drinks on the terrace on the sixth floor.

Besides these events, you can also join our sports teams. During the field hockey season, every Tuesday we play against other corporate hockey teams. Each year a group of fanatic cyclists participates in the Friese Elfsteden Rijwieltocht. The McKinsey Football Tournament is a yearly event for football fans and several rowing teams have joined various races throughout the Netherlands.
